Third Molars/ Extractions/Bone Grafting
DEFAULT INSTRUCTIONS
Continue Medicated mouth rinse for 1-2 more days if you have any left.
Gentle brush regions with a soft toothbrush (https://www.napervilleoralsurgery.com/how-to-properly-brush-areas-after-surgery/). If you have an electric toothbrush you can turn it off in those areas.
Avoid crunchy and/or hard foods until gums have grown over the area.
Jaw exercises (https://www.napervilleoralsurgery.com/how-to-properly-do-jaw-stretching-after-surgery/).
You can now spit and/or suck through a straw.
Advance diet as tolerated and as long as you can keep the areas clean.
Continue to use the syringe until you no longer clear food from the sockets (https://www.napervilleoralsurgery.com/how-to-properly-irrigate-after-surgery/)
You may now resume exercising.
Follow up as needed.
OPTIONAL INSTRUCTIONS
Continue Medicated mouth rinse for 2-3 more days if you have any left.
Continue Medicated mouth rinse for 1 more week.
Continue Medicated mouth rinse for 2 more weeks.
Continue Medicated mouth rinse until finished.
Discontinue Medicated mouth rinse.
Avoid brushing area for 1 more week.
Avoid spitting or sucking through a straw for another week.
Continue to use the syringe for 1 week (https://www.napervilleoralsurgery.com/how-to-properly-irrigate-after-surgery/)
Follow up 1 week.
Follow up 2 weeks.
Follow up 1 month.
Follow up 3 months.
Follow up 6 months.
Follow up 1 year.
